The priority for this family was to create a contemporary garden consisting of raised beds to act as an extension of the newly renovated house by Clive Sall Architects. The Client grew up in the house as a child and is passionate about tropical, architectural plants. The back gardens of the row of houses are open to the neighbours on each side and the client was keen to retain this sense of community.
With a young family and limited storage space, a high quality artifical lawn was chosen to be a practical play space, surrounded by ‘walls’ of untreated oak containers. An existing mature Trachycarpus fortuneii palm formed the basis for the planting scheme and was complemented by Banana, Euphorbia mellifera, Euphorbia martinii blackbird, Phormium and Miscanthus sinensis zebrinus along with some exotic summer flowering bulbs such as the Fox tail lily.
The terrace and new steps were paved in a sawn contemporary sandstone by London Stone.
